"holiday (n.) 1500s, earlier haliday (c. 1200), from Old English haligdæg "holy day, consecrated day, religious anniversary; Sabbath," from halig "holy" (see holy) + dæg "day" (see day); in 14c. meaning both "religious festival" and "day of exemption from labor and recreation," but pronunciation and sense diverged 16c. As an adjective mid-15c. Happy holidays is from mid-19c., in British English, with reference to summer vacation from school. As a Christmastime greeting, by 1937, American English, in Camel cigarette ads. [...] The primary (pre-Christian) meaning is not possible to determine, but probably it was "that must be preserved whole or intact, that cannot be transgressed or violated," [...]. Holy water was in Old English.

Holy is stronger and more absolute than any word of cognate meaning. That which is sacred may derive its sanction from man ; that which is holy has its sanctity directly from God or as connected with him. Hence we speak of the Holy Bible, and the sacred writings of the Hindus. He who is holy is absolutely or essentially free from sin; sacred is not a word of personal character. The opposite of holy is sinful or wicked; that of sacred is secular, profane, or common. [Century Dictionary, 1895] [...]"

i took most of the textures from the fukushima exclusion zone texture pack by eva and franco mattes, just scaled them down like everything, and i created the error messages at the end using the error message generator by atom smasher. otherwise cc0 stock photos and sound collages by myself and i didn't use any assetstore-models/-prefabs.

for the 32bit holiday jam 2021 (theme: holiday) i wanted to create a fmv game, but switched to something inspired by myst (which i actually never played before this jam) and traitors gate (a game i remember playing in my childhood).

i did something new and i learned a lot about buttons and ui-clicking related things during this jam and because of my recent secret santa experience i calculated a lot more time for uploading everything etc - rewarding! the rgb & cmyk sheet was inspired by this article. during christmas i played the 2010 alice in wonderland disney game and was inspired by the mechanics of the mad hatter's perspective manipulation ability.

the controls where very very exhausting and complicated to implement for such a short experience. i only had about 4 days for this jam (including crunch time), but i'm happy with the results (although i never possessed a console and i rarely ever played a console game in my entire life), especially some of the ✨aesthetics✨ 👁️👄👁️
